Casa Calaveras

Inside the Downey City Library, festival-goers can experience artist George Newnam’s CASA CALAVERAS. A dazzling walk-through exhibit which chronicles the exploits of soon-to-be newlyweds José & Gloria as they journey back to the living world to enjoy earthly delights and missed opportunities. Thanks in part to George’s Mexican Grandma, what initially began many years ago as a Haunted House has since transformed! It’s a heart-filled tale of two lovebirds expressed through life-sized happy skeleton figures immersed in eye-popping colors. A great way to introduce your kids to Day of the Dead!

Other notable SoCal venues have included: MOLAA, LA Plaza, Old Town San Diego, The San Juan Capistrano & East Los Angeles Public Libraries and 10 years at Santa Ana’s Bowers Museum of Cultural Art.

Enjoy these activities and many more at this year’s festival!
